Model differences

Breville BOV450, BOV650, BOV800, BOV810 and BOV845: classic ovens compared

The classic Breville Smart Ovens in this comparison share familiar Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies and Reheat jobs, but each has a different body size, accessory set or operating mode. The Mini Smart Oven BOV450 and Compact Smart Oven BOV650 list eight presets. The standard BOV800 lists nine by adding Warm; the Smart Oven Pro BOV845 lists ten by adding Slow Cook. The BOV800/BOV845/BOV810 also have a convection control. None of these classic configurations is an Air Fry model.

BOV450: the shortest body and smallest references

The Mini body is 16 × 13.6 × 8.8 inches and weighs 13.36 pounds. Breville lists four toast slices, an 11-inch pizza and one 10 × 10-inch enamel baking pan. Its manual describes the ribbed top for warming plates, not a Warm cooking preset. It is the choice to compare first when height or counter depth constrains the standard Smart Oven, but the pan and pizza references are small. Its manual’s four-inch side clearance and prohibition on use inside an appliance enclosure remain important despite its size. Read the BOV450 assessment before assuming it can replace the large oven you use for family meals.

BOV650: one step up in pan and pizza size

The Compact Smart Oven is 17 × 15.5 × 10.25 inches, weighs 15.41 pounds, and lists four toast slices and a 12-inch pizza. Its accessory set has a 10-inch-square enamel bake pan and broiling rack. The eight presets match the BOV450 list; there is no convection program and no Warm preset. As with the Mini, the ribbed plate-warming surface is separate from the cooking functions. Compare the BOV650 review if the extra inch of pizza diameter and included rack are more useful than the Mini’s lower, shallower body.

BOV800: the standard nine-function oven

The Smart Oven body is 18.9 × 15.9 × 10.9 inches and 22.4 pounds. It lists six toast slices, a 13-inch pizza and nine presets, including Warm. Its fan/convection control adds a distinct oven-style option; it does not create an Air Fry program. The included 12 × 12-inch enamel bake pan, 12 × 12-inch broil rack and 13-inch nonstick pizza pan are larger than the pieces listed for BOV450/BOV650. The BOV800 assessment is especially useful if shopping online, where adjacent BOV810 Smart Oven Plus variants may appear in search; BOV810 has its own model-specific book and should not be treated as a BOV800 finish.

BOV845: the same body with Slow Cook

The Smart Oven Pro BOV845 shares the BOV800’s listed 18.9 × 15.9 × 10.9-inch body, six-slice toast and 13-inch pizza references, and the 12-inch-square pan set. The tenth named preset is Slow Cook. The model also has convection and an interior oven light; it does not have an Air Fry or Dehydrate preset. If you want a slow-cooking option in a single oven cavity and the standard footprint works, compare the BOV845 assessment with BOV800. The “Pro” label does not mean it is the larger Air Fryer Pro BOV900: that is a different 21.4-inch-wide family.

BOV810 Smart Oven Plus: an earlier Slow Cook configuration

The discontinued Smart Oven Plus BOV810 is a separate earlier model, not a BOV800 finish. Its own manual lists ten presets, including Slow Cook, and its controls include convection. Breville’s selected US variant page identifies BOV810BSSUSC and BOV810CRNUSC as discontinued. Its body is listed at 18.9 × 15.9 × 10.9 inches; the manual specifies side/top clearance. The BOV810 manual also gives six-slice toast guidance and names a 13-inch pizza pan, 12-inch-square bake and broil pieces, and a wire rack. Use the BOV810 reference review and the BOV810 label/manual when checking a used unit. Its body is standard-width, but its cubic-foot capacity, weight and warranty remain unpublished in the sources reviewed.

How to make the choice

Start with your largest dish and the free counter area, not the model’s marketing tier. BOV450 buys the smallest body; BOV650 grows the pizza reference and includes a broiling rack; BOV800 adds six-slice/13-inch references, a larger accessory set, convection and Warm; BOV845 adds Slow Cook to the same published body dimensions. Each of these manuals requires side clearance, and the oven must sit on a stable heat-resistant surface. Leave additional space for the door, cord and a hot pan.

If your essential mode is Air Fry, do not choose from this classic family: BOV680 and BOV860 are narrower-body options with dedicated Air Fry, while BOV900/BOV950 add a larger cavity and Dehydrate. If drying or app-connected cooking matters, the classic Smart Ovens do not offer those functions. No result here is based on a cooking test; the choice is grounded in manufacturer documentation and still depends on your cookware, habits and counter.

Make the next choice from your real counter and cooking routine.
