A useful fit for

A standard-width, 9-preset oven with convection and six-slice/13-inch pizza references, but no dedicated Slow Cook or Air Fry preset.

The main tradeoff

It shares body dimensions and much of the cooking set with BOV845, but lacks Slow Cook; the model label and manual matter when shopping similar Smart Oven names.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Could BOV800 fit a 19-inch body-width limit and include a convection fan?

The US BOV800 page lists a 18.9-inch body and a convection control/fan. Required ventilation clearance is extra.

Does the BOV800 include Slow Cook?

No. Its current US page lists nine presets; Slow Cook is not among them. Do not confuse it with the separate BOV845 Smart Oven Pro or BOV810 Smart Oven Plus documentation.

Can the BOV800 meet an essential Air Fry requirement?

No dedicated Air Fry function or basket is listed for BOV800. Compare the Air Fry family if that specific cooking preset is essential.

The Breville Smart Oven BOV800 is a mid-size, nine-preset countertop toaster oven with a convection fan and a 13-inch pizza reference. The US product page lists six slices of toast, a brushed-stainless BOV800XL configuration, and an 18.9 × 15.9 × 10.9-inch body weighing 22.4 pounds. It does not state a cubic-foot capacity. The nine functions are Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, Reheat and Warm. That list matters: the BOV800 does not have the Slow Cook preset found on the closely sized BOV845 Smart Oven Pro, nor does it have Air Fry.

A simple program set with convection

Breville’s Element IQ description centers on directing power to the quartz heating elements. The BOV800 manual identifies five elements, a convection control and a temperature conversion control. The fan can be switched for compatible cooking jobs, but it is not a dedicated Air Fry system and the product page does not list an air-fry basket. Convection may be helpful for some oven-style tasks, but this assessment does not claim a measured time saving or more even browning. Its practical appeal is a familiar selection of toaster-oven presets plus a fan option, with most choices made at the front panel.

The direct comparison is the BOV845. Both share the listed 18.9-inch width, 15.9-inch depth, 10.9-inch height, six-slice toast and 13-inch pizza references. The BOV845 adds Slow Cook as a tenth function and carries the Smart Oven Pro name. The BOV800 offers nine modes, including Warm, but the product listing does not call out a slow-cooking preset. If the BOV800 name appears alongside “Smart Oven Plus,” verify the label and instruction book: Breville treats BOV810 as a separate model from BOV800, not another finish code for it.

Check your real footprint and cookware

The outer dimensions are only one part of fit. The BOV800 manual specifies four inches of clearance at each side and recommends a dedicated electrical circuit. It also cautions against touching hot exterior surfaces and the door during or immediately after operation. Add the clearance to the body, then account for the power plug, door swing and the counter space needed to lift out a hot tray. A 15.9-inch depth measurement does not tell you how close the cord sits to the wall or where the door lands when open.

Breville lists a 12 × 12-inch enamel baking pan, a 12 × 12-inch enamel broil rack and a 13-inch nonstick pizza pan. The 13-inch pizza figure does not mean every 13-inch dish will fit; handles, rims and the actual usable opening matter. Measure the pieces you plan to use. The pan set makes everyday baking and roasting more flexible than a bare toast-only unit, but this is still a single cavity with one active oven task and an accessory/rack position to choose. For a large casserole or multiple racks of food, compare a one-cubic-foot model rather than extrapolating from the toast count.

Daily routine and cleaning

The instruction book uses conventional panel controls and recommends plugging directly into a dedicated circuit rather than adding a power strip or extension cord. The outer surface gets hot; place the oven on a level, heat-resistant counter and keep combustible items away. After cooking, allow the cavity and included pans to cool before handling. Unplug and follow the book’s steps for the removable crumb tray, coated interior and accessories. This model’s 22.4-pound listed weight is manageable for repositioning by some owners, but regular lifting from a cabinet should not be assumed convenient; plan for a stable home near the outlet.

Warm is a selectable program on the BOV800. That is distinct from a metal top surface intended for plate warming on the smaller BOV650 and BOV450. If that distinction matters, look at the actual instructions rather than searching only for “warming” in a product title. Similarly, do not assume the newer Breville+ recipe collection implies Wi-Fi oven control: the BOV800 manual describes local controls, not Joule-style app operation.

Who is likely to prefer this configuration?

The BOV800 makes sense for a household that wants the six-slice/13-inch class and a convection choice but does not need Slow Cook, Air Fry, Dehydrate or connected controls. The BOV845 is the more direct alternative for a dedicated Slow Cook preset at the same published dimensions. The BOV650 and BOV450 have smaller meal references and less included pan area; the BOV680 adds Air Fry in a narrower body but leaves cubic-foot capacity unstated. For a 21.4-inch Pro oven with larger stated capacity, consider the BOV900 or BOV950, but budget for their much broader bodies.

This review is based on Breville’s product information and the linked US manual rather than a hands-on test. It does not claim measured toast uniformity, bake accuracy, preheat time, operating noise or life span. Check the Breville BOV800 US page and the BOV800XL instruction book for a seller’s exact suffix and current accessories.
