Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can this earlier TOB-260N meet a 0.9-cu-ft minimum and documented convection need if earlier models are allowed?
Yes. Cuisinart lists 0.95 cu ft; exact page and linked manual document convection. That is not a dedicated Air Fry claim.
Explore this need in the finder →Does TOB-260N satisfy a requirement for a named Air Fry preset?
No. The exact page/manual document convection, not a dedicated Air Fry function.
Explore this need in the finder →Can an exact 17-inch counter-width ceiling be confirmed for TOB-260N?
No. Exact TOB-260N page omits exterior width. The 16.93-inch figure on TOB-260N1 is not transferred; unknown width fails a hard limit.
Explore this need in the finder →The discontinued Cuisinart TOB-260N is a large single-cavity oven for someone who wants toast, bake/broil and flexible convection controls. It has a stated 0.95-cu-ft cavity and 1,800-watt rating; the box list includes a pizza stone, two racks and broiling/baking pieces. Its tradeoffs are counter space, cleanup and the lack of a dedicated Air Fry, Dehydrate or Proof program in the inspected booklet.
Many settings, but one oven cavity
Cuisinart markets 15 cooking functions. The linked 80-page booklet makes the control scheme easier to interpret: it gives the user Toast, Bagel and Waffle choices, plus Bake, Broil, Roast, Pizza, Sandwich, Keep Warm and Leftover. Convection, Speed Convection and Dual Cook expand those choices. That is a broad menu, but it is not fifteen independent presets with fifteen different kinds of heating. The booklet describes one horizontal cavity with five heaters, selectable rack positions and controls that change how the same oven operates.
Convection turns on a fan. Speed Convection is the more specific shortcut: the manual says it eliminates preheating and advises lowering the selected temperature by 25°F. Regular convection can also be added to bake, roast and other listed jobs. The first time you use it for a recipe, check food sooner rather than assuming the big-oven timing transfers exactly. That is practical guidance from the manual, not a claim that this oven has been independently tested for faster or more even results.
Dual Cook is another useful distinction. It runs two programmed functions or two stages of temperature one after another; it does not provide two separately controlled cooking zones at once. That can help a casserole go from heating to browning, or let a recipe change temperatures without another round of button pressing. It does not let you bake a separate dish simultaneously at a different temperature. If you need simultaneous independent cooking, look at a true double-oven design instead.
Room for a meal, if your counter can spare it
Cuisinart describes a 0.95-cu-ft cavity and gives examples of a 13-inch pizza, nine bread slices, a 9-by-13-inch pan or a whole chicken. Treat those as maker-listed fit references, not a guarantee that every handled pan, tall loaf or chicken shape clears the rack and door. The manual shows four rack positions and two included racks. Its broiling pan nests in the baking/drip pan; the included 13-inch pizza stone has its own storage and cleaning routine.
The exact TOB-260N product page does not list the outside width, depth or height in its specifications block. Do not use a sibling listing’s measurements as a substitute when a hard counter limit matters. The page for the finish variant TOB-260N1 does publish a 20.87-by-16.93-by-11.42-inch body and 35-pound weight, but the TOB-260N page itself does not; check the appliance plate and product paperwork for the exact model you are considering. Even before exact measurements, the 9-by-13 pan and two-rack layout signal that this is not a tiny toast-only oven. Add safe clearance, cord access and open-door room to the published body dimensions when you have them.
The manual calls for a level surface and two to four inches from nearby walls or objects. It warns that the outside gets hot, prohibits operation below wall cabinets or in an appliance garage, and says not to store items on top while the oven runs. The 1,800-watt rating and its 120-volt-outlet instruction are planning facts, not a circuit test for your kitchen.
Cleanup is part of the purchase decision
The exact page describes an easy-clean nonstick interior. The booklet says to unplug and cool the oven, use a mild damp cloth on the cavity and avoid abrasive or corrosive cleaners. Keep the crumb tray in place during use and clean the upper interior after greasy food. The racks, pans and tray are hand-wash pieces; dishwasher use is not recommended. Rinse the pizza stone with hot water only—no soap—and air-dry it at least 30 minutes before heating. This is not a no-maintenance appliance.
For used ovens, check the parts list carefully. Cuisinart’s individual TOB-260BT, BP, WR, CT and PS replacement pages name TOB-260 and TOB-260N1—not TOB-260N or TOB-260N1NAS. Those pages therefore do not confirm cross-fit for this exact suffix. The Aluminum TOB-260N1 is the finish-only nonstick variant covered here; the stainless-interior N1NAS is distinct. Inspect the actual accessories rather than assuming another suffix’s parts list applies.
Who should choose it—and who should look elsewhere
This earlier model suits a household that values a roomy cavity, shade choices, convection, pizza baking and a programmable two-stage routine, and will verify the unit’s exact code and condition. Cuisinart lists a limited three-year warranty, but discontinued status and a used sale do not establish that coverage transfers.
Skip it for a must-have Air Fry, dehydration, dough Proof, food probe, app control or independent upper/lower zones; the exact sources do not document those. For a smaller conventional-convection choice, compare the TOB-60N2NAS (0.6 cu ft; 12-inch pizza reference; convection bake/broil). A current Smart Oven may suit a different routine, but check its own manual rather than assuming the discontinued 260’s controls continue unchanged.
